Asked 2/11/2016 – Weatherford, TX

I was in Wise County when a state trooper attempted to pull me over for speeding. It took the officer several minutes to catch up to me. I do not have mirrors on my motorcycle and was not aware he was behind me. I finally heard a siren looked behind me and saw he was behind me. Was not sure he was pulling me over took a side street and continued riding thinking he may be going after someone else. Eventually I realized he was pulling me over so I immediately pulled over. I was now in Parker County the officer said I knew he was behind me and tried to flee so was charged with evading arrest it is my understanding when charged with evading arrest the officer had to have a legal reason to be pulling me over which is speeding that offense occured in Wise County

Answer

Jurisdiction is proper where each event occurred, not where the original contact was made. If the officer determines in his opinion, that although contact was made in Wise County, a reasonable time and distance to stop placed you in Parker County. You continued through Parker County for a considerable distance, case could be filed in either county.
