I have a valid Georgia, (USA) Drivers license. I’ve seen my 7 MVR, and all is in good standing, and my license is valid. I had a DWI offense almost 17 years ago in South Carolina, and was of the understanding that all was settled, until I went to change my license to Texas. The Texas Drivers license office said there was a hold from SC, so I would have to correct this, before Texas would issue me a license. I still hold property in Georgia, I travel outside of Texas, and back to Georgia several times a year, and also I have a permanent address there, so I can renew my license there. I want to correct this matter, however I don’t have time before my license must be renewed, before April 15, 1664. So…

You would have to ask an attorney in Georgia. In all likelihood, however, if Texas found the hold, Georgia will probably find it as well. There is an Interstate Compact between most states where one state will enforce a hold on the issuance of a license if a hold has been issued from another state belonging to the compact. Find out if that’s the case with Georgia
