I am in the stated of Texas and I recieved a speeding ticket, when the arresting officer stopped me he explained that i had been radared by an unmarked car a little further back and he could not show me the speed the gun picked up. This seems like a speed trap to me!
Answer
An unmarked car does NOT constitute a speed trap and courts have ruled an officer does not have to show a driver a radar/laser reading . A speed trap is generally defined when a city arbitrarily establishes a speed limit without an engineering or traffic feasibility study that establishes what a reasonable and prudent speed limit would be given the conditions existing. Talk with a local attorney about keeping this matter from becoming a conviction on your driving record.
