Can a 15 year old boy date a 18 year old girl legally in Texas?

My girlfriend and I have been dating for a while and she’s about to turn 18, I’m 15. Is it legal for us to date without anything sexual?

Answer

Any sexual contact between a person under 17 years old and a person over 17 years old is a violation of the penal code. See Texas Penal Code Section 22.011 – Sexual Assault and Section 21.11 – Indecent with a Child. When this question of “Can we date?” is asked with the addition of “No sexual contact”, it generally means “Can we have sex?” The answer is no. This is a very dangerous road you are going down.
