Asked 4/19/2016 – Corsicana, TX

I was pulled over three years ago without a license. I paid my ticket and 6 months later I received a surcharge in the mail. I paid that on time as well. I was just recently pulled over and informed that my license had been suspended. We’ll I went to the dps office to ask why and they told me I had a surcharge on my drivers license and my id, but I was only informed of one of these by the state. They never sent me a letter in the mail telling me I had another surcharge, or to tell me my license was suspended. I feel like this is entrapment and I don’t know what to do. This is also my first ticket I’ve ever received.

Answer

What you describe is not entrapment. Did you receive a recent citation, or do you want to contest your license suspension? This sounds like a potential mess, so get a certified copy of your driving record assigned to your license, as well as what has been assigned to your ID, then contact a local attorney to see what it will take to clear everything up.
