Asked 5/23/2016 – Irving, TX

I moved to Texas from Colorado 6 years ago back in 1985 or 86 I had gotten a dui in Colorado without a valid driver’s license I never paid my fine did jail time once for probation violation now years later I would like to get a driver’s license and be able to drive is this possible in the State of Texas?

Answer

Texas won’t let you have a driver’s license if Colorado still has a hold on your license. If you are clear with Colorado, you’re OK. If the passage of time has not wiped out your obligations from your conviction, you will have to clear them first. You will probably have tom contact an attorney in Colorado.
