Asked 7/14/2016 – Kountze, TX

Ryan was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of two 6 yr olds girls. Ryan wouldn’t have done that to them he had changed their diapers. Ryan’s friend was caught in his room with the girls and Ryan asleep. I believe this is when the girls were assaulted. My son was told that if he confessed he would get probation and Ryan believed them. But two 50 year sentences isn’t probation. The court appointed lawyer didn’t file for the appeal he told us that my son had done the crime. My son never had his mind checked before sentence was made. My son has gone to MHMR since he was young boy. He is ADHD, bi-polar, plus more. My son needs help. I’m looking for a pro bono lawyer to help with this case. God Bless your time.

Answer

It is possible to appeal any case, but the grounds for appeal differ. Was there a trial? Was a psychiatric evaluation performed on your son prior to judgment? If not, why not since he has had prior MHMR referrals? You can contact the Innocence Project, or the local Bar Association to see if any attorneys can help you with an appeal.
