Do I have to be arrested to receive a court appointed attorney?
Might have to go to court for cps, due to my daughters’ father’s false accusations and I might not have the money in time to get an attorney.
Answer
In a case where Child Protective Services has filed a petition, and you are one of the respondents, it is possible for the court to appoint an attorney to represent you. You do not need to be arrested. Appear in court as directed. You can ask the court to reset the case if you want to retain your own counsel, or make the request for a court appointed attorney at that time.
