Asked 4/14/2016 – Greenville, TX

After being assaulted, the person who assaulted me blocked the door on purpose. I had to force my way out. I might have pushed him out of my way in self defense.

Answer

Self-defense is always an affirmative defense to an assault. Cases are fact specific, so you have to look at the totality of the circumstances. Have you been arrested, issued a citation or been contacted by the police about this matter? Talk with a local attorney before you speak with anyone else.
