Asked 7/14/2016 – Mesquite, TX

I received two “expired inspection” tickets; 8/11/2009 and 8/17/2009 in Mesquite, TX. If I remember correctly, it was the same officer that issued both citations. Well I’m scofflawed. I talked to a clerk today to ask if I could send my sister to pay my fine since I no longer live in the state. She said no because I never entered a plea. Isn’t there a statute of limitations?

Answer

Filing the charging instrument in the case tolls the statute of limitations. Contact a local attorney about posting bonds, removing the warrants and determining what fees can be waived in order to remove the scofflaw hold.
