Background info: I am 20 years old and I met a guy online that claimed to be 18. I verified his age with him several times. We texted over the course of a couple weeks, and talked on the phone a couple of times over the same period. While on my way to meet him for the first time he admitted that he was, in fact, 16 (20 days shy of 17, the legal age of consent in Texas). Seemingly relevant facts: 1) I was very clear that I would not meet him or do anything resemble dating him until he was 17. This was a couple of weeks ago. During this period we have corresponded often. 2) On more than one occasion he has tried to convince me to see him early, and I have been unequivocal that I was unwilling to do that. I have even been clear that “sexy talk” was unacceptable while he was still 16. 3) We have, however, discussed what we are going to do the day after his birthday, and to be honest, physical interaction has been mentioned. Now, my question pertains to #3. Does this constitute solicitation or anything similar? does it appear that any crime has been committed? I have been clear that I intend to have a relationship with him, but after he is of legal age. Should this put me in the clear?
