Asked 1/30/2016 – Amarillo, TX

My son asked for evidence be tested for fingerprints. .and see the evidence for his self .and they haven’t yet after being in jail for the warrant’s he’s sitting out ..from this traffic stop and They then searched his vehicle and said found drugs he had told them their not his but the guy with him and the officers let him walk and didn’t even run the guys name .

Answer

Your son’s request will not make the case go away. If he has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, he must get an attorney and prepare his defense A motion for discovery may be made, and certain other requests as well, but until a court enters an order, the police do not have to comply with a defendants request such as this.
