My mom got hired by a guy starting a therapeutic riding center, they needed a horse trainer so they hired me then wanted me to be in charge of everything ‘horse’ so we started and he got two horses one I said not to the other I had loved, he never listened to me and then I told them i’d just be a horse trainer due to his behavior, he now hates me because of that convo and will not talk to and is starting to treat my mom the same way we’ve had the horses for 2-3wks and is not paying us, he owes me $150 and my mom $800, she has been housing the horses and watering them and taking care of them, he has started buying sheep food that will kill them and wants to sell but wont sell to us because im disrespectful, he wants to sell them to slaughter, I found out today hes a felon, theft for $30 then $200k then 3k in hot checks + more and has lied about being in the military and alot more, if we take the horses will it be horse theft? he owes us and we care for them and are willing to pay him? or what can we do

If you take the horses, it will be theft. They are his horses, so he can do what he wants with them. If you want to buy them, pay the man but don’t think that because you are a good guy and he is a jerk, you can do what you want.
