Asked 2/8/2016 – Pasadena, TX

My wife got pulled over by a rookie cop for not yielding before turning right at an intersection. When he stopped her he said to her I’m new to the force but I’m pretty sure what you did was wrong. He also got her name address and race wrong on the ticket can we dispute this ticket

Answer

You can contest the citation, but the errors about her address and race are not elements of the offense and will have no effect on the outcome (the error in name MIGHT be an issue, but you would have to look at the complaint). Contact a local attorney and let someone look at it. You may, at the very least, be able to keep this ticket from appearing on her driving record as a conviction.
