Asked 6/22/2016 – Arlington, TX
I received a citation for theft under $100 in January 2016. I am currently looking for a job and I am realizing it’s very hard to find a job despite me being very honest on job applications.
As of now, my case has been dismissed and I turn 18 in two days but from reading online forums, I’m guessing that conviction will not be “erased” from my record. I desperately want to remove this off my record but I am very low on money. I went to recordgone.com but I don’t think they can expunge it but they could remove it from background checks.
Would recordgone.com be a good choice or should I seek talking to an attorney? I don’t want to burden my parents with the costs but I know that I need to do this now. I’m about to go off to college in a few months and I plan on getting into the medical field soon. I know it’ll be extremely hard to get into medical school with a record so I’m trying to take care of it now. Anything helps!
Answer
If your case was dismissed, you can file a petition for expunction. Talk with a local attorney to determine when the petition can be filed.
