I was just updated on my Arson case, where a young woman set my car on fire. I was told that she has an active warrant under her name for attempted Arson. How long does she have to turn herself in and if she fails to do that, will the authorities seek her out or will she just remain a free person without answering for her crime?
Answer
There is no statutory time frame regarding when a person must “turn themselves in” on a warrant before they are arrested. If there is an active warrant, this person will be arrested upon contact with any law enforcement official. I understand this is an extremely emotional situation for you, but please understand that your case is not the only matter that has an outstanding warrant in Travis County. What you are basically saying is: “When are the police going to get off their ass and arrest this woman!!!???”. It is frustrating, but your case is one of thousands. Be patient. You will eventually get your day in court.
