How long does the state of Texas have to indict you on a felony theft charge?

I asking for my son he’s been in jail for 6 months already on a few felony theft charges he’s been edited on think two i just want to know how long do they have to indict him on them?

Answer

The statute of limitations on a theft case in Texas is 5 years (see Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 12.01 (4)(A)). An indictment must be filed within 5 years from the date of offense.
