My husband is now in TDCJ Middleton unit he been in there for 3 days now but about 2 months ago when he was in lew sterrett the judge gave him 29 months credit of a three year sentence but when i checked online with TDCJ I see two theft charges with 270 days by both of them and two family violence with 3 years by both of them as well can someone please explain to me what does this mean and how long is he really facing
Answer
If your husband was sentenced to 3 years TDC and given 29 months back time, he will serve a maximum of 7 months (36 months {3 years} minus 29 months). He MAY be released early, but that would depend on any good time credit awarded by the Department of Corrections while he is in prison. I am not sure exactly what you are looking at when you check online, but I assume you are viewing the sentence imposed on each case. If he has only been in the TDCJ system for only 3 days, it might be a little early for his estimated release date to be posted, but that is what you should be looking for. That date will appear soon.
