Asked 9.21.2016 – Dallas, TX

I have a family friend who was dating a guy for a few months and she later found out he was abusive. He strangled her and punched her unconscious. They have been going to court for going on two years and he hasn’t been sentenced or anything. How much time can you even get with Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon?

Answer

There is no statutory limit on the number of times a case can be rescheduled. The case will be reset as many times as the Judge will allow.
