I ran into a legal problem and I’m wondering if you all can tell me what to do?
I was sitting on the sidewalk waiting for my friend to get out of the bathroom. Two bike cops showed up and gave me a camping ticket. I was not guilty! I was in shorts and shirt nothing else waiting! I didn’t show up on time to court and missed court. I’m not guilty I don’t want this on my clean record. It looks bad for jobs. My I’d exspired and I need to take care of this before I get anther, they will arrest me and charge me. Can I get anther court date? Or am I unjustly screwed? Its been in the news cops admit they just going around giving tickets to homeless committing no crime on propose. One guy got 1000 tickets..
Answer
If you did not appear in court (and did not enter a plea of guilty or no contest by mail), the question of whether or not you violated this particular law has not been decided. Contact a local ticket attorney. That attorney can post a bond, get you a new court date and you can have a trial on your case if that is what you decide to do after conferring with counsel.
