If me and a Family member had an argument and police came out and we talked about the problem how do things like that get handle, I don’t want to Press charges on.no one unless it’s lie or death…you still have to think things like this can not only hurt that person it can even scare there destroy their life ,I do one better leave it in god’s hands…I just feel no-one really understand …it’s always two side to every story without that people life can easily taking ,and nobody want that for real

Answer

Once the police are called, you lose control of how matters will proceed. An individual does not file criminal charges, law enforcement does. If the police were called, and after investigation the police determine they have enough evidence, charges will be filed. You may file an affidavit of non-prosecution to let the State know that you do not want to pursue this matter, but is up to the District Attorney’s office to decide if the case will be dismissed or not.
