Asked 4/12/2016 – Seguin, TX

I got pulled over in December for speeding in a school zone. I was going 30, and during the hours on the sign the speed limit is 20. Now I paid the ticket and all the fees (over $400) and I paid it late due to being unemployed and living with relatives, and three days after I paid it I got a letter that said my license was suspended for not paying, but I ignored it because it said it would take over three business days to process. But now Im scared my license is actually suspended. However, just this morning I was on that same street again, and I looked at the speed limit sign and it said the hours to adhere to the 20 speed limit were from 7-9 AM and to 2-4 PM, and I got pulled over around 10:30 AM, so doing 30 during that time would be considered going the speed limit. I plead No Contest on my ticket. I want to know at the very least if I can get the ticket taken off my record and the suspension fixed (if my license is suspended), and I would hope I could get the money back but I highly doubt that. Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point, as I don’t know where else to turn.

Answer

The time and date of the citation is an element of a school zone violation, so you have grounds to contest this matter. Contact local counsel about this ticket AND your suspended license.
