If the alleged abuse occurred in Dallas County, then should Tarrant county have investigated and brought charges to prosecute?

My husband was accused and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child U/14. The alleged allegations happened in Dallas County where we lived at the time, his trial date is March 1st.

Answer

The city of Grand Prairie has a portion of its territory within the Dallas County limits, and other portions lie within T arrant county. I assume your home is in Grand Prairie, that is on the Dallas County side, and that the alleged abuse occurred in your home. The jurisdictional issue can possibly be raised, but it won’t resolve your problems. Even if the case were to be transferred to Dallas County, it would not invalidate the investigation by T arrant County law enforcement. You would just be changing the address of the courthouse where the case would be tried. You can talk with your husband’s attorney, but in the long run, you will have to address the factual issues of the case.
