Last year in May I started the Pretrial Diversion Program for a felony Offense. This year i lost my current job in April and have been struggling to find a Job. I have been given the run around by many employers and have formally been denied employment by one company, due to my background check showing the arrest relating to the same offense. Now I am in the situation of in a couple of months I will run out of unemployment, and will be unable to pay bills, and eventually be evicted.
An opportunity has come across for me to move in with my grandmother, only issue is that she lives in California which is 1100 miles from me. She is offering me to live there rent free, to work part time, and go back to school to get a degree. Only issue is getting permission to move. Is there any special circumstances that would allow me to move? Or do I just keep applying for jobs I’m ultimately unable to get, because I can’t pass a background check while on this program, until it’s completed where everything will be dropped? And then end up homeless and then what will that do? Get me thrown in jail? What am I Supposed to do?
Answer
You must obtain approval from the Court and/or the Diversion Program Supervisor before you can move. Otherwise, you are in danger for violating the terms of the program. Have the attorney who represented you contact the court.
