Asked 6/14/17 – Houston, TX

I was issued a ticket for 3 violations. 1. Speeding 2. No license 3. Expired license plate ( vehicle isn’t mine). I was wondering if there was any way I could get some of the tickets dropped.

Answer

Yes, it is possible to dismiss some of these matters. First, obtain proof of compliance on the last two tickets (i.e., get a driver’s license and get the license plate up to date, even though the car was not yours. You were driving the car, so you are responsible). Contact a local attorney to represent you or appear in court yourself, show the Judge compliance and see what can be done. A conviction on the No DL case, however, can cause surcharges to be imposed, so I do suggest that retaining an attorney is your best course of action.
