Asked 5/23/2016- Dallas, TX

Got an arrest record for a no-billed case (no conviction) in Texas when I was in the U.S. on a visa. I want to seek expungement for this sole record. I know government agencies clears the records but what about PRIVATE BACKGROUND COMPANIES?

Answer

Once the order of expungement is entered, it will apply to private companies. These companies must be individually given notice of the order, and you may have to deal with this issue sporadically for the rest of your life. Make sure you have a copy of the expunction order, so when you discover something, you can provide notice (and you don’t have to keep paying your attorney to send letters)
