I was told by my Supervisor and Security officer on my job a few months ago to stop a customer at the front door that was stealing merchandise.
In which the customer hit me and we struggled and they ran out the door.
I didn’t hear anything about that situation till this past Fri. When I was asked to come into the office to sign a statement bout what happened. I signed the paper without reading it first cause I trusted my fellow co-workers.. Today I found out that I am a suspect for theft of said store..
What can I do?
Answer
Obtain a copy of the statement you signed and bring it to a local attorney. Also, see if the store has retained the surveillance video of the incident. Be careful in what you sign; “I didn’t read it” is not a legal defense.
