I was released from felony theft charge probation, I have no priors. What will come up in a background check?
Answer
A background check will reveal what you just described; you were placed on probation, and then released. If you were on straight probation, a conviction was entered and can never be removed from your criminal record (except through pardon from the Governor). If you were given deferred adjudication probation, successfully completed the probation and your case was dismissed, you may file a petition for non-disclosure 5 years after the dismissal date of your case. Contact your attorney if you are not sure of the type of probation you were given
