I’m under 21 at my friend’s birthday party who is also under 21. Cops showed up and talked to friend for a couple hours outside. Finally come inside saying they have a search warrant. Allowing people to leave. I have my backpack in my friends room with a pipe and a grinder with no weed but traces.
Answer
As a general rule, attorneys will advise clients that if they are suspects in a criminal matter, do NOT speak with law enforcement. Life is not a reality TV show where you are just going to talk it out. Police are gathering evidence against you to charge you with a crime. Make no statement. What police are and are not allowed to do is a question for a later date. The question is: what DID they do and what did they find. You may want to speak with a local attorney.
