I received a speeding ticket in Georgia. They went against my plea of absentia and told me i have 5 days to pay the ticket off. I told my boss about the issue and he gave me the money to pay my ticket.Well for some stupid reason it took forever for my bank to process the money. They ticket needed to be paid off by Tuesday. I am going to pay it off today. My lawyer said they will issue a bench warrant. I looked at their records and i haven’t seen anything about a bench warrant in my name. When i call to pay it off will it all go away or will they still cause me problems? They literally made this a difficult time for me. I got the ticket back in August and have been fighting with them since all because my husband said something to upset them and they held it against me. They also said my license was suspended so i haven’t been driving but when i called and asked how to get it unsuspended they told me that it wasn’t and i then was told it would probably just be suspended in that state which is confusing.
Answer
How courts handle traffic tickets varies from state to state. If the lawyer you spoke with is from Georgia, he or she knows what the courts in Georgia can and cannot. do. If your attorney if from Texas and just giving general advice, I suggest calling and attorney who practices in the county in Georgia where you received the citation for and finding out your options.
