My fiancé was just transferred to Bradshaw unit in Henderson Texas… When he was in Hutchins state jail in Dallas… Why did they transfer him? Is this jail somehow different? This is nearly 3-4 hours away from me now…. Also can he contact the judge for information on the diligent participation program? He has 3 1/2 more months to serve before getting out early January. I’m really upset because I was hoping he would stay in Hutchins…. Do they move him for specific reasons?

Once your fiancée was sentenced, jurisdiction of his case was transferred to the Department of Corrections and Parole. The Judge in his original case has no say in what prison unit he is assigned to, if and when he is transferred, or what programs are available at the facility. I underhand the transfer was upsetting to you, but may not have any bearing on your fiancée’s situation. Ask him if he got into some trouble while in Hutchins.
