Asked 8/3/2016 – Dallas, TX

I drive an 18 wheeler; a car ran into the back of my trailer. I was issued a ticket that I paid even before I got the accident report because I thought that was the right thing to do. I live in PA and this was in TX. When I received the accident report in the mail it was incorrect, making me the cause of the accident. Now my license is suspended because of it. DMV in PA are saying that I need to consult with a TX attorney. What would I do?

Answer

Paying the ticket caused a conviction to be entered on your driving record. If it has been less than 10 days since the conviction was entered, you MAY be able to set that judgment aside; otherwise, you’re probably out of luck. It’s always better to contact an attorney BEFORE you make any contact with a court about a pending matter.
