Asked 3/5/2016 – Houston, TX

What does it mean in a Criminal case if your next setting is called: DCM Evidence Exchange?
I have a pretty good idea, but I just want to make sure it means what I think it does. Which I think it means that the state and defense have to finish their “investigation, reports, speaking with experts and witnesses (everyone involved)….etc”
Am I correct or way off?
Thank you in advance

Answer

At this setting, your attorney will receive discovery from the District Attorney (State’s potential evidence). You and your attorney will be able to review this evidence, then decide on whether to accept any plea bargain offer made by the State, or take your case to trial.
