Asked 6/17/2016 – Houston, TX

I got deferred disposition, my concern is that after my probation ends, do I have to send some kind of request ( form ) to court for my probation to be dismiss? Also, what happens if I get a ticket ( praying to god that i don’t get one) during my probation?

Answer

You must review your deferred disposition order. Some courts require the return of a statement of compliance at the end of a probationary, some do not. Regarding a new ticket while on probation, some court orders state it is a violation to be ISSUED a citation during the probation; other state it is a violation to be CONVICTED of another violation while on probation. If you can’t tell from your order what your obligations are, call a local attorney (particularly if you received a citation while on deferred).
