What happens if you are awaiting a trial date for one charge and get arrested again for something different?

Asked 7/21/17- San Antonio, TX

Awaiting trial for felony prostitution (this is the 6th time picked up) and now i got picked up for misdemeanor drug possession. My trial date is the same day as the hearing for the new charge. Will they bring up the new charge at my trial?

Answer

Your new charge will not be brought up at trial, but it is possible that the Judge may hold your bond insufficient, have you arrested and have you sit in jail until the trial on your first case. Contact your attorney immediately and let him know what’s going on.
