My Nephew is 18 now and living in Texas after his mother was arrested for drugs in Kansas in 2014. He did not want to go into foster care and called his uncles to come get him. His father is in prison for murder. If they find him will he be tried as an adult for the duration of his probation? I do not know how this works. We didn’t know that he was on probation until he was already here in Texas. He is on probation for stealing.
Answer
If your nephew was placed on juvenile probation in Kansas, Kansas retains jurisdiction of his case. You will have to contact an attorney in Kansas familiar with the juvenile law in that state to help you. Good luck.
