Asked 2/4/2016 – Odessa, TX

My husband came home drunk one night and hit me across the face and put a gun in my face and told me he was going to kill me they also recovered seven fire arms in my home he was charged with aggravated assault to the deadly weapon with a deadly weapon. His bond is 200,000. I am told that that is an awfully high bond.

Answer

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a 2nd degree felony, punishable by confinement in the Texas Department of Corrections from 2 to 20 years, a fine of up to $10,000, and a maximum probationary period of up to 10 years. It also appears there are misdemeanor assault and terroristic threat charges that could potentially exist, but since those are lesser offenses, they may not be filed. Please consider your life situation. Guns and alcohol/drugs don’t mix well, and your husband obviously has a problem. I understand your marriage wows, but no one should be subjected to what you have had to go through, and you should take whatever steps necessary to insure you are never in this situation again.
