When am I eligible to have a charge of this extent expunged?

Asked 7/14/2016 – Copperas Cove, TX

March 17, 2014 I was charged with a Class A Misdemeanor for the Possession of a Dangerous Drug (1 Viagra Pill at the age of 17, silly, I know.) I just want to kind of get an idea of the process I would go through, and as well, how long I would have to wait. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Answer

If a final conviction was entered, you may only have the case expunged via pardon from the Governor. If the case was dismissed, the manner of how the case was dismissed determines if you are eligible for an expunction or non-disclosure and when any such petition could be filed. Obtain a copy of the judgment in your case, the talk with a local attorney in the county where the case was filed.
