Why is it legal for the feds to sentence an inmate for incarceration and also sentence him to probation, is that not double jeop

Im being given a sentence of 24 months and I dont understand after my release why I would be on probation.

Answer

Double jeopardy means you cannot be tried twice for the same thing. You are not facing 2 trials, You are facing an extended sentence. It is legal for the Feds or the State to sentence a person to probation AND make jail time a condition of probation.
