Today my two friends who are 17 and another friend who is 23 went to Walmart the minors stole $120 worth of items the 23 year old was not stealing but was there with them.they were caught the 23 year took blame but the minors did too.they were taken into custody and released to their parents.the 23 year old remains there he has a criminal record from when he was 18 they told him he has charges up to 4 months in jail his bail has not been set yet.

Answer

All persons involved can be charged with the offense. It’s called the law pf parties. For example, in a bank robbery, the driver sitting in the getaway car will be charged with the robbery, even though he did not set foot in the bank; even further, if a teller in the bank gets killed, the driver will be charged in the murder as well. The actual sentence your friends will receive depend on their criminal history and the specific facts of the situation. Four months does not sound like an appropriate punishment range, so may want to contact a local attorney.
