My husband violated his probation after a dirty ua and missing a meeting. His PO filed a motion to revoke probation which thankfully did not happen. He was given 60 days in Lew Sterrett and reinstatement of his probation. His lawyer said he wouldn’t serve the entire 60 days though depending on his CATS evaluation or PSI. He has only been in jail for a week but already had the first part of the evaluation and someone is supposed to finish it this week. I guess I’m just not understanding what they are trying to decide now?
Answer
The CATS evaluation will be used to determine if any modifications will be made to your husband’s conditions of probation. Don’t get your hopes up just yet; the evaluation may suggest SAF-P or some other in-patient drug rehabilitation as as a probation requirement. It generally takes about 3 weeks to get the CATS results back. Stay in touch with counsel, find out what the evaluation recommends, and go from there.
