Asked 4/7/2016 – Denton, TX

I was driving late at night and didn’t have my seat belt on. A cop was driving towards me on a street that is only 30 miles per hour. After he passed me, he turned around and started to follow me but there was a pretty good distance between us. I turned left at the “round about” and then drove for about 600 feet and turned right into my complex. After I had turned into the complex, he was so far behind me that he turned left into the round about. He never pulled me over, and the car is registered under my dads name. Will I get ticketed for this?

Answer

The officer will not be able to identify the operator of the motor vehicle (it cannot be presumed that the registered owner of the vehicle was the driver) , so no citation will be issued.
