Asked 5/23/2016 – Plano, TX

At 05/21/16, 11:40 PM, I was pulled with an HOV Lane Traffic Violation on Highway 75.

Recently, I’ve started driving the HOV lane because I have my sister with me to drive down long stretches of Highway 75.
However, on 05/21 Saturday, I was on route pick up my sister after dropping her off. Out of short term memory habit, I immediately join into the HOV lane as it needed quick lane changes. By the time, I understood that there were no passengers in the car; I was already in HOV lane.

I drove to the end of the HOV lane and exit, because it would be damaging Public property while producing damages to my car.

This is the first time I’ve driven in the HOV lane by myself to pick up my sister on the way back and will probably never drive on HOV ever again.

Answer

If you just pay the citation, a final conviction will be reported on your driving record to the DPS. You may want to consult a local attorney who could see what could be done avoid a conviction. You may still have to pay money to the court, but in the long run you’ll save on the insurance premiums.
