Asked 3/25/2016 – Plano, TX

I normally leave work after all the school zones are over, but recently I got the chance to leave work early and down the street from my house there is a school zone that I completely forgot about. I was going the regular speed limit when the school zone limit is 20 MPH. I saw the cop and still did not think anything of it until he pulled me over…. then i realized what I did. It was a honest mistake because I was not use to driving home with the school zone still active. Since I was going 25MPH, I no longer qualify for defensive driving but is there any chance of doing deferred disposition in Plano, Texas? I tried to research the information but nothing comes up with deferred disposition for a school zone speeding ticket in Plano, TX.

Answer

If you 1) do not have a commercial driver’s license and 2) the offense was not committed in a construction zone while workers were present, you could request deferred disposition from the court.
